What is the “REACH EU” standard?
REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation, and Restriction of Chemicals) is a European Union Regulation that aims to improve the protection of human health and the environment against harmful products that may damage consumers’ health.
The scope of REACH extends to all chemical substances used in industrial processes and in our daily lives, such as cleaning products, paints, or articles such as clothing, furniture, and electrical devices. The regulation, therefore, affects most companies in the EU, especially those involved in fashion and clothing production.
To achieve this objective, procedures are established for collecting and assessing information on the properties and hazards of individual substances. Therefore, production companies must register their substances and pass specific controls. Subsequently, after registration, EU Member States evaluate the selected substances to clarify the concerns raised in principle regarding human health or the environment.
